Greetings, my name is Marylu Ornelas. I have been a parishioner at St. Andrew Catholic Church, for 15 years. I am a wife and mother of two children eight and two. Back in 2012, Father Paul Sustayta approached my husband and I about a new Transitional Kindergarten program at St. Andrew Catholic School. Being that my daughter was of age we decided to look into the program. I remember walking into St. Andrew school feeling excited and nervous as she tested for TK. We were greeted into a friendly and welcoming environment. We were thrilled to enroll our daughter and begin TK at St. Andrew Catholic School. At that time I was a stay at home mother so I was able to actively volunteer at school. I volunteered for two years when an opportunity presented itself to join the Early Childhood Education team. This will be my fifth year as an instructional aide to early education. During my time at St. Andrew Catholic School I managed to complete an Early Childhood Education certificate from Pasadena City College.
Since my daughter has been enrolled at St. Andrew Catholic School, I have been able to get to know the teachers and staff well. I am thankful to be included in a knowledgeable and spiritual community. I look forward to next year when my son will be able to join in this faith based community at SAS. I am thrilled to begin a new school year!
